Puravankara- History of Tharavad

ALLADA SWAROOPAM:

The costal and hillock land consisting northern part of Kasargode and Kannur districts of Kerala and southern part of south Karnataka were part of "Kolathiri nadu" (Gods own country)

since tenth century. During 14th century the samanthas of these area declared this part of land as independent states as Thulunadu and Alladaswaroopam. While Thulunad was ruled by samanthas known as Ikkeri Nayanars, Alladam (alladaswaroopam) was under siege and being by two brothers named Allohalan and Mandan. From Beckal to Payyanur and Arebian sea to Kudagu was the extension of this particular state. The Samorin (Samuthiri) of Kodungallur

conqured these area once, which later became out of their control. But retaining matrimonial alliance with Kolathiri (having Chirackal as their capital-kovilakam) there were frequent wars being faught with the samantha kings of Alladam and Thulunad (having Baindur as the capital)

Headquarters of Alladam was in Athinjal/Ajanoor ruled by Allohalan himself and Nileshwaram governed his brother Mandan under ministership of Moolacheri Nair and Kaari mandan (who later called as Puli maranha thondachan) Actually Moolacheri Nayars were warriors of the very same Kodungallur kings who had patternal relashionship with Oravankara Namboothiris who were not mere brahmins, but highly qualified scholers and warlords. One of them deputed as

as minister and commander from Oravankara nambuthiri family to Baindur who married a Nair woman in Moolacheri and thus the children of this particular became known as PURAVANKARA

who later moved to the area near present Melparambu and still called the same name. But later

during Muslim dominance subsquently Hyderali and Tippu Sulthans attacks and occupancy

Puravankara Nairs were moved to Ajanur in Bellikoth and Udinur as two branches. These two branches became two saparate thavazhis and later two tharavads and now remain as two divisions. Major members in Bellikoth and the other in Udinoor. Being ancistors are Brahmins who inherited their properties and rights also to the two Nair families. The Brahmin in later from Oravankara namboothiris were branched as Thazhackad Mana, Neelamana and Edanattu (Enaattu mana) etc. Enaattu mana inheritants still hold the part of land and root in Udinoor, though others have moved from the origional inheritted tharavad to neighbour location in Bellikoth of Ajanur.

Kiran

Khuda khilaaya KIRAN ya roshni, Kabhi kabhi se kadam udha ke
Khushi ki rastha Kamaana aisa kahaani jaisa Khabar udha kar.
Idhar udhar mai udaas ban kar upar udhana manaaya dil se
Imaan bhi chodkar Musafir jaisa chalaya kal ki khabar bhula kar.
Rulaaya roj phir mila diya jo khilona jaisa diya dikha kar.
Rukha nahi mai chalaana rastha rukhavaton se ladai mil kar.
